The W Kerr Scott Dam on the Yadkin River near the city of Wilkesboro, NC, was
completed in 1962 by the US Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington for the purposes
of flood control, water supply, recreation and natural resource management.
Wilkesboro Hydroelectric Company LLC, has received a Preliminary Permit to
explore the development of this site for electrical generation. The company has been
acquired by Wilkesboro Hydropower LLC on September 16th, 2008 who have taken
over the development.
