The Mahoning Creek Dam was constructed in 1942 by the US Army Corps of Engineers and is
one of the 16 flood control projects in the Pittsburgh District.
Mahoning Creek Hydroelectric Company LLC, a subsidiary of AHS has received a Preliminary
Permit to explore the development of this site for electrical generation which is expected to be
rated at a capacity of around 6.0MW. This Permit was renewed September 5th, 2008.

The Initial Study Plan was filed June 9th, 2006
and after review with state agencies we
submitted a Revised Study Plan. The FERC then
issued its Final Plan Determination on Nov. 7th
2006 for studies to be performed during 2007
and 2008.

The foresighted designers of this dam included 2 x 9ft diameter power
conduits in south abutment 'for future hydroelectric development'.
